    upcoming nasal and throat surgery

Has anyone in the forum had nasal stabilization surgery, anterior palaloplasty with expansion sphincteroplasty surgery for sleep apnea? I will be getting this surgery on the 7th of June. I would like to know what the recovery time will be and what you were able to eat afterwards. Also, I would like to know how much pain you had afterwards and what worked best for you to control the pain. I am extreemly nervous and pretty scared about this surgery as I normally have had all of my VA surgery done in the private sector. Thanks, Pamela

My husband had this exact same surgery done 2 years ago...sorry, not at the VA hospital and not in your state. He was eating soup that night and was eating scrambled eggs the next day. By day three, he was eating again regularly.

It did not cure his sleep apnea and actually made his snoring worse!

He has a very high pain tolerance and was only taking motrin...he didnt take any of the prescription pills they sent him home with. He claims the pain was minimal, but knowing him, I would say it was rough the first night, but got allot better after day 2.

    Good luck!
