Post-Tonsillectomy Question

I had a tonsillectomy 2 weeks ago and when I'm eating I have a metallic taste in my mouth. I can still taste the food when I'm eating but as soon as I start chewing it just gets coated in this metallic taste and is disgusting.

My surgeon said that it could potentially be nerve damage in the tongue and that hopefully it will go away but no guarantees.

I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this, and if so what was your experience and how long did it take to resolve?

I'm very worried and concerned.

Thank you.

Re: Post-Tonsillectomy Question

It can take several weeks to a few months for that to resolve. Most cases do straighten out eventually. 2 weeks isn't unusual to have this as you aren't totally healed yet.
