High Blood Pressure in Eyes but General Blood Pressure is Fine - What is wrong?

Hi, went for eye test and was told I should go straight to the Doctor because they think I have very high blood pressure. They said the blood flowing in the veins in both eyes is very high. They showed me the scan of my eye and pointed out about 14 patches that they said was blood leaking and being absorbed by my eye.

Went straight to the Doctor and my blood pressure was fine. Had blood tests and they all came back fine except slightly raised amylase and low B12 which they are not too concerned about.

Optician has said there is something wrong and has contacted the hospital for me to be seen within 2 weeks but I just wondered if anybody could offer any advice as to what this might be. General blood pressure is fine but very high in eyes.

    Thank you.

What you are describing is called Ocular hypertension..it can be caused by trauma in the eyes... you do need to see an eye specialist.

I know you are waiting for the hospital, but do you have access to an ophthalmologist? Can you explain the circumstances and try to get in to see one asap?

This can be serious. and it can be corrected... but you won't know how serious it is until you are checked out by the specialist.. please do not wait- ocular hypertension can cause vision loss.
