    Nose Cauterization

I had my right side of nose cauterized 10/4 - I ended up developing a sinus infection a week later - I would have scabs then they would leave then come back - so on 10/20 - I had a nosebleed - 10/20 - 10/26 nosebleed if not 2 every day - so yesterday I went back to the ENT doctor and she cauterized again - of course I have the stuffiness and mucus stuff right now - I don't know why the 1st one didn't work - so I am hoping this one does!

    Re: Nose Cauterization

Your ENT may have missed a tiny little spot the first time which would cause it to bleed again...sometimes it is really hard to see what they are cauterizing in such a small space.

Let it heal and do not pick at the scabs. Good luck!

    Re: Nose Cauterization

I have had cautery done several times for winter dry air nose bleeds and this typically works for several years. I am having minor bleeds again this winter, but my doc suggested keeping the nostril well lubricated with Vaseline or Neosporin. Applied several times during the day this seems to help quite a bit and I may get through the season without cautery. Suggest you do the same after your cauterization.
