Ear infection or wax build-up?

I've had an issue with my ears (mostly right though), where they would get clogged up, which I consider to be a problem caused by ear wax. Recently, my right ear got worse. I'm experiencing pain (though not severe), random clogging when moving my jaw (for example when eating), and what I can describe as a 'drumming' sound when I hear loud and/or high pitched sounds. The sensation is difficult to describe, but if I hear a sound which triggers it, the is a faint 'drum' sound (about quarter of a second), after the sound has stopped.

I've tried ear drops but they haven't helped much.

Sounds like you need to see an ENT and have them cleaned.

Hi micchan!

Is it possible that one or both of the eustachian tubes, leading to your ears, is somewhat blocked?

Did you recently have a cold, or allergy, where you had to blow your nose? Blowing the nose incorrectly can cause mucus to enter into the eustachian tubes.

As far as ear wax, I occasionally use 3% hydrogen peroxide in my ears to remove ear wax.

I I feel like I've had a very light cold for quite some time now, but it's not really noticeable. No allergies.

I blew my nose a few times and causes my ears to pop.

I was having this problem, so my ENT told me to put hydrogen peroxide in my ear once a week. This has cleared it up. I notice if I go over a week it starts happening again.

I suggest you try using a nasal rinse....I use the NeilMed squeeze bottle system.

You could ask the doc for you to try Singulair.

Did he tell you what the general cause was?
