    Firstly I'm a 21/female

I've had a swollen tonsil for almost three months now..I don't feel altogether that sick just scared of what it might be

I'm full of mucous. Also my ears feel really full but they're clean (as in I can't remove any hard wax..I also experience a horrible crackling gsound when I swallow/yawn..

    Can anyone help???
I would be so grateful for a reply??

    Thank you

    eems,

Sounds like you may have sinus trouble. Have you been running a low grade temperature? Do you have a headache? Is it painful or uncomfortable to press above and below your eyes on the bone ridge? If you drag the mucus from the back of your throat, is it clear or colored? Green and yellow chunks falling out of your sinuses down your throat is a very good indicator of a sinus infection. If any of these sound right you may have a sinus infection working its way in to your ears.

After three months any cold/allergy trigger should have cleared up. Are you on anti-histamines, decongestants, or nasal sprays?

For aiding your recovery decongestants, saline nasal sprays, head steaming, and nasal steriodal sprays may be applied. However, if you are running a fever and the mucus is infected, then you will need anti-biotics to fix it. I would recommend you go and see a doctor, sinus infections rarely clear up on their own.

    Sincerely,
    MG

When my head gets really hot on and off during the day is this a fever?

    tissie1,

It is possible that you are having a localized fever, but unless you document it using a thermometer it is hard to tell. Try taking you temp a couple times a day, if you are above 99.4 you are in the text book fever range. My normal temperature is 97.4 so I run fevers low... find your mean temperature when you are well and then you will know when your body temperature is elevated.

Low grade fevers can be indicated by flushing or feeling hot, higher temperature fevers tend to be indicated by chills. At 101 on I get chills, 99 - 100 I just feel hot all over.

    MG
