    Blood in Nasal Mucus

Great forum you guys have here!

I am wondering if I could share what has been happening to me as of late to see what some might think it is.

About 2 weeks ago I started to get this odd sensation just above and between my eyes (in the area where the top of the nose joins the forehead). I can only describe this sensation as pressure... kinda feels like something is under the skin.

There were no other symptoms of any kind... such as a cough, fever, congestion etc etc. (all though I have had a blockage for about 10 years or so.. due to what I think is a deviated septum). However about a week ago I started to find blood in my mucus when blowing my nose - I thought I was just blowing too hard... but it has been consistently present now for a week.

Yesterday I went to a doc. who said that she thought the sinus pressure was due to maybe some sort of allergy or something - and that the blood was from maybe just being dry.

She gave me some sort of spray for allergies but I have not yet used it as after I got home I read that I should consult a physician if I have or had TB (which I did when I was a child). I bought Saline drops for the dryness of my nose - but the blood seems to remain unchanged. What worries me is that it is well mixed into my mucus - which makes me think that the two are coming from the same place (i.e way up in my sinuses).

Any ideas as to what could be causing the pressure? Is it possible to have sinusitises (or any other problems with the sinuses) without having congestion, fever, etc etc.

And of course what worries me more is what could be causing the bleeding? The blood is not in huge amounts, i.e it does not run out my nose, but it is there when I blow or pick the excess mucus.

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Blood in Nasal Mucus

Maybe from the lining of your nasal passage being swollen? I get this too. I feel like my passages swell and decrease alot, feels blocked up at the bridge, sometimes get the blood.
