    Tonsil stones without tonsils??

'm a 22 yr old male who had his tonsils removed when about 11 years of age. However, beginning last fall, I began to cough up small, off-white, hard or waxy objects that smell like the bad taste or bad breath I sometimes experience, but concentrated. From my research on the net, it seems that tonsil stones sound exactly like what I'm suffering from. However, I can't seem to find anything on the net about people without tonsils having this problem.

Does anybody out there have any suggestions for me?

    Thanks,
    Haggis

Maybe you still have tonsil tissue remaining from your tonsillectomy. Or, my grandfather's apparently grew back or they didn't get all the tissue the first time and ended up having his tonsils removed a second time. Think something similar happened to my mom, too. Back of my mind I'm hoping it's not hereditary.

Your tonsills can grow back if the surgeon did not successfully remove all of the tissue at the first time the surgery was performed. I believe the same applies to the turbinates and this is why most doctors tend to reduce them instead of removing them due to their ability to regenerate this tissue later on. Nothing hereditary about it, just how your body will grow back, similiar to your liver.
