    Unhappy Rhinitis Hell

    Hi there,
Reading all the posts about chronic rhinitis its good to know that I'm not the only one suffering.

Since I was about 16 (now 27) I developed rhinitis & asthma. I first went to the doctor who prescribed me nose spray after nose spray. I then went to see a ent specialist who prescribed yet another nasal spray, I've been for allergy testing but that was all.
In 2002 I had an operation to remove a small part of the bone at the top of the nose to help me breathe but this didn't help. I started taking antihistamines (from a supermarket) these worked for a while but then didn't help at all.
I have a constant runny nose and sneeze sometimes about 50 times a day, which makes me extremely annoyed and unhappy. I'm embarrassed to go to work as I sit sniffing and blowing my nose all day. I feel drained/tried & I can't be bothered to do anything. My nose wakes me in the early hours of the morning as I need to blow it, I then can't sleep and am tired for the day.
My doctor hasn't ever suggested going to see an allergist or even given me any tablets.

The illness effects my every day life. Can anybody help me? I'm at my wits end with it & really can't see a light at the end of the tunnel

    Re: Rhinitis Hell

Looks like you and I might be living the same life, lol. I've suffered for over 20 years now without any help from the doctor. My post nasal drip has gotten so bad that I now have chronic chest congestion and need to cough up cups of mucus every morning JUST TO GET THROUGH THE DAY!

So I finally decided to see another doctor behind my dr's back, and this one THANK GOD, is referring me to an ENT specialist as well as an allergist. He did tell me though that there is no cure but hopefully there might be something new out there that can help with the quality of my life. There's not many activities out there one can do with kleenex in hand!

Currently the only thing that has helped me is decongestant pills (Eltor 120 or Liberator) and irrigating my sinuses with saline solution. Other than that I'm screwed too......
