Recurring sore throat
As a child, I experienced frequent sore throats, which always inevitably turned into stuffy noses and chest congestion and all the fun stuff associated with that. By age 4, I had my tonsils and adnoids removed, and I was told that that should take care of it. Many years later, I continue to experience horrible sore throats at least once a month. I have had so many as of late that taking antibiotics is like taking sugar pills. I hate not to take anything because I have such a hectic life that I don't really have time to lay in the bed for 3 days working it off. At the same time, I hate taking antibiotics because each time I do, I know I am building more and more antibiotic-resistant bacteria. My sore throats always match the symptoms of strep throat. I will be fine the night before and then wake up in so much pain that I can barely speak. There are always puss pockets on each side, and no matter how many OTC products and milligrams of vitamin C I consume, it always gets worse and worse until I go to the doctor and get more antibiotics. It is incredibly frustrating being sick so often. I literally finished an antibiotic 2 weeks ago, and then woke up today with another terrible sore throat. Any ideas?? I can't blame my tonsils, unfortunately, and I don't know where to turn next. The doctors in my area are so concerned with getting in and out of the room within 30 seconds that they don't seem to care, either.
I am desperate and sick of being sick!!! Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
