Persistent runny nose & cough (2 weeks now) will Doxcycline Hyclate help?

For the past two weeks, I've had a runny nose and cough. At first it was bad: coughing up green/yellow phlegm and nose discharge was yellow. But now, after two weeks I no longer have the green/yellow phlegm. Although my nose is runny, it's a lot less, much lighter now. The cough is subtle with very little phlegm

The fact that it's been persistent, two weeks now, I'm thinking about taking Doxcycline Hyclate, 100mg twice a day (for ten days). I already have it in hand and am curious whether or not I should go this route. Would this alleviate the symptoms?
