Re: Constant phlegm / snorting problem - please help

I have had exactly this problem since my early teens. I get a solid lump of mucous in/around Hiatus Semilunaris. It builds up every day, until it gets so unbearable. Over the years Ive been through all the ENT / Doctor Roundabout, even had Septoplasti, but nothing worked. I even 'saved' up the buildup and cleared and produced in the doctors presence, and for some reason he got very annoyed and asked me to change Doctors (Honest Story).

So, Ive tried the OTC meds, nose sprays, Dr prescribed rhinusistus meds etc. I have found a solution for me personally, but Im sure it is doing more bad than good. Every night after dinner (It loosens ever so slightly after eating, or after a beer (Not a Cola or any other fizzy drink for some reason.) Every day I go to the bathroom, run the hot tap, and just before it gets totally hot I cup my hands and literally inhale this warm/hot water. This seems to loosen the mucous, and I can usually shift the lump with one good snort, or by blowing /outsnorting. The lump size is approximately the size of a hard boiled sweet, maybe bigger, and very very sticky (Sorry if this sounds gross, but when I spit the lump out it gets stuck on the toilet bowl and will not move, I have top push it down with loo roll.)
If I dont shift it, it tends to get stuck even more, and I suffer with a stunning headache for the next day, until I can clear myself again. Im sure the water is not doing me any good due to additives limescale etc , but its the only way Ive found to shift it. Talking seems to loosen it a small amount, and some days I can sniff and boom, clear, good day, other days...Agony and totally blocked.

Im praying someoone can find the answer, as my GP has given up. My medical history is terrible in that 10 years ago I had TB. This caused me to cough real bad, and ended up breaking 3 ribs through the coughing. These ribs mended across some nerve ending,s causing me terrible pain.

The pain specialist started giving me monthly epidurals, but after 2 years he decided to try and basically burn the nerves to kill them off. However, as he was in there he pierced my lung, badly, causing a massive pneumo thorax. So, I live with the pain now, along with bad scars in my lungs.

As you will appreciate, my 'Mucous buildup' is the least of my problems as far as a specialist is concerned.

Anyway, sorry to go on, but I cant believe after 30 years Ive found some folk who have exactly my problem.
