hi teesha a sarnies short for sandwich here in the uk.
my favourite hi calorie snack. always cheers me up.

certainly for the first few weeks I had the same symptoms
squeaky hi pitched sounds. I didn't do the word test I'm pleased
to say. my results would have been poor too. once the healing really got
going so did my hearing. one month in my view is to early to say what the final result will be. that's not guessing it's true.
it should only get better. try and think of other things in the mean time.
    it'll help.

    Thanks Mal,

I know you're right, I need to stop worrying.

I am disappointed that a sarnie is only a sandwich, I thought it was going to be something exotic that hadn't yet made its way to Australia, haha.

Thanks for your encouragement & words of wisdom.

    Hi Australiagirl!

I'm a Sydney boy! I'm very sorry to hear about your dissapointing results post stapedectomy. I know all too well how exasperating it is not being able to hear, and ever holding onto a hope that surgery might make life easier.

I had both my ears operated on. I had a stapedectomy in my right ear only about 20 days ago. Thus far my recovery is going well, and the hearing is apparently better than my left ear (30db loss), but the results aren't as I expected.

This is not about me though, after hearing your story I wanted to hear how everything is since you last posted. Have you had the opportunity to see the ENT? I'm hoping the audiologists prognosis was incorrect - sometimes due to fluid and build up sounds can be very strange in an ear for weeks post op.

If you are in Sydney, and continuing to have issues I would suggest going to see Dr David Pohl. He is an ENT who works out of RPA and St George. He performed my operations and even amidst complications in my first operation and an infection immediately post op, my hearing result is quite good. Although, he has only performed a Stapedectomy on me, my understanding is that he is an on the best middle/inner ear specialists. Based on my story I cannot stress finding ENTs with lots of experience. After all, every ear is different, they are delicate mechanisms and results arent always easy to predict.

I hope the reason you haven't posted in some months is a good one. If not, I very hope you are able to get the right treatment and the best outcome.
