Everytime I move my jaw there is a click in my left ear...

Does anyone have any idea what this is??

My left ear hasn't been right since November last year. Sometimes it is really itchy, and sometimes it hurts inside. But the most consistent symptom is that everytime I move my jaw I hear a click in my ear. Occasionally when I lie down at night I hear a similar click in the back of my throat.

I've been to the doctors twice now and both times was given antibiotics which did absolutely nothing - if anything they made it worse.

I feel like I could probably live with it as it's more annoying than anything else and I don't really want to go to the doctors again. But now I'm getting paranoid that it might be a symptom of something sinister, although I don't know what! I'm hoping that it might be a sinus problem that is ok to ignore for a while....? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Have you considered that it might be TMJ? My TMJ manifested through ear problems.

There is a good sticky of various TMJ symptoms at the top of the TMJ board.

The clicking when you move your jaw could be your disc sliding in and out of place.

If it is TMJ, I recommend finding a qualified TMJ dental specialist in order to get assessed. There are suggestions for how to seek out a good dentist on the TMJ board as well.
