Problem after Thyroplasty

I had a paralyzed right vocal cord and I had a thyroplasty or better called: Vocal Cord Medialization back in August with a revision surgery done back in October. My voice hasn't improved at all even though I have the biggest implant they have. It is very frustrating, the voice still breathy and I have problems saying more than 4 words on a row, I run out of air.

Have anyone experience something like that before? Any suggestions?

Re: Problem after Thyroplasty

It is disappointing to note not one reply. I am looking to move forward with a Type 1 thyroplasty for rt vocal cord paralysis. I have had injection medializaion and it worked for two months (temporary I knew going in). Now trying to decide to move forward with the permanent implant medialization. Two choices seem to be silastic vs gore-tex implants. What type did you have? What has happened since you posted the note in January? What did the surgeon say about no improvement? Did you have special circumstances?
