A dry stopped up feeling in nose with significant blood in snot

I have been stopped up and had a good bit of mucus the last few months. My doctor always says she doesn't see an infection. Well, yesterday I was really stopped up and I blew my nose. It seemed like I had more blood come out than mucus. I know I need to see the doctor, but I won't be able to till Monday. I was wondering if this can be a serious issue. Like I said, it is a stopped up dry feeling nose. Then only my fight nostril had the major blood issues. I don't blow my nose that often so I doubt it is a busted blood vessel. At the current moment it is a dry feeling in my nose. Not overly stopped up. I will be stopped up by morning. How worried should I be? Thanks for the information.

It doesn't sound like anything to worry about. Your symptoms could be the result of dryness in the mucus membranes in your nose, which can cause congestion and bleeding. It could be environmental (dry air), not drinking enough liquids, or from any of a wife variety of medications from antihistamines to blood pressure medication.

as said by the poster above, dryness in the nasal membranes can lead to bleeding so that's likely the cause of it.
