I had a Stapedectomy 10 years ago when I was 35. To be honest it didn't work. My hearing didn't get any worst but no better either. I went into quite a bad depression which last about 5 years on and off. My problems were not just the operation but it didn't help.

Anyway feeling a lot better now.

We moved to a different part of the country I checked out my ENT department just to get myself in the system, as I wear a hearing aid in the left ear. The Surgery said he was quite happy to go in and have a look, however I was quite reluctant - I really didn't want to go down that depressive route at that time.

How that was 5 years ago, now at 45, I'm thinking of maybe getting the operation done, but I'm so scared it won't work again or my hearing could get worst. My hearing is the other ear is not that good either.

I have dreams that I am hearing aid free and then wake up and I'm not. I would love to be able to swim and I could actually hear things.

I would appreciate any advise, as I feel really scared x
