Hearing test after myringotomy. Is there usually a tube placed?

Is anyone familiar with how long after you have a myringotomy can you have a hearing test to determine if you have conductive hearing loss or to determine if fluid is still present? Has anyone had this type of procedure only to have the fluid return again a few days later if no tube was placed? I felt like I heard better for a day or two after the surgery only to have it start to feel the same again. If you've had a fluid issues or this procedure please let me know your details. I need to compare with someone who has had these same health issues.
