    laxative abuse and water retention

Does anyone have any experience with water retention and laxative abuse. Have been off of laxatives for two months. Finding that I have water retention and wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what the reasons might be. Eating healthy, not taking laxatives anymore. So what could be the problem?

    Hi,
On your other post, you said that you were taking them for 40 years and that you were going to the doctor? I heavily abused them for 2-3 years tops and I remember being bloated afterwards and taking fiber supplements for a couple of weeks afterwards. I worked on decreasing the amount of fiber supplements because I didn't want to take them forever.

Maybe, because you took them for so long it could be IBS or some digestive problem? Are you having other symptoms besides water retention?

No, I don't have IBS, but I still feel bloated, and feel like I am stuffed from belly up to my ribs. When I wake up I am not too bloated, but during the day, even if I have not eaten, I get bloated. What's up with that? By the way, thanks for replying to me.
