Unhappy All Symptoms, No Causes - At My Wits End

    Hello all,

Thanks for taking the time to read. I was hoping someone, anyone, might be able to give any thoughts/suggestions as to the following - I've been struggling with some health issues for over 8 years now & I'm struggling to see what's been missed and where to go from here. Doctors and specialists have been unhelpful (massive understatement) but I have managed to get a few diagnoses recently, but unfortunately none of the treatments seem to be helping. To summarise:

    - Approx 19yrs old - sudden onset constipation (suspected due to iron supplements from GP so stopped taking them, constipation didn't improve). Constipation ever since requiring stimulant laxatives as bulking/osmotics don't help.
    - Recent diagnosis prolapse/rectocele/intussusception - Laparascopic ventral mesh rectopexy done this year (had complications so this isn't sorted yet)
    - Amenorrhea since 19 - this was noticed after constipation started by a matter of months after I came off the pill. Periods have not returned in this time. Progesterone challenge resulted in small amount of bleeding several days later.
    - A few months after constipation I lost a lot of weight and became underweight. Felt very unwell. Stomach problems have persisted all these years (feel full, bloating/distended stomach, literally don't go at all without laxatives - and yes, all diets/exercise/supplements tried!)
    - Diagnosed pernicious anaemia approx. 3 yrs ago. On 3 monthly injections. No noticeable improvement, except I seem to feel awful in the 3rd month before the injection.
    - 1 1/2yrs ago diagnosed hypothyroid - taking Nature-Throid T3&T4. No noticeable improvement.
    - Still anaemic now, taking iron supplements.
    - Folic deficiency. Very low oestrogen (I've just been told to go back on the pill...) Awaiting referral to rheumatologist for osteopenia (quite a shock for me at 27 years old!)

In terms of blood tests, these are some of the other results I have that may be slightly high/low/worth looking at ...

Macrocytic anaemia (despite B12 injections for over 2 yrs) MCV 105 fL

    Plasma viscosity 1.49 mPas

    Serum Urea 2.1 nmol/L

Serum cholesterol 5.6 nmol/L (despite a healthy diet; suspected due to hypothyroidism as this was just before I started treatment)

    Plasma fasting glucose 4.1 nmol/L

Serum cortisol 389 nmol/L (last year)

    FSH results of 7, 7, 8 & 9 iu/L

    Serum LH results of 2, 4, 5 & 6 iu/L

Serum prolactin 425 (told this could have been a one-off weird result) & 98 mu/L

Serum testosterone 0.7 nmol/L (last year)

Sorry for all of the information. My symptoms suggest a potential issue with the pituitary (from feeling cold all the time, to headaches, paleness, fatigue, low sex drive, loss of periods, constipation, etc). The gynae agreed I could benefit from an endocrinologist referral but this will be my GP who has to do this & she told me last month that it's unlikely I'd get one due to constraints on referrals!

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, possibilities would be very much appreciated at this point. I'm due to talk to my GP Wednesday and would like to try to figure out where to go from here because I'm at my wits end. Thank you so much for taking the time to read, it's much appreciated... x

Re: All Symptoms, No Causes - At My Wits End

Just to note, my cortisol was 321nmol/l (9am test) ref range 172-497. I thought this would be ok but GP says that's actually low, that it should be higher than that in the morning and seems 'off' given my other symptoms/diagnoses.

Again, any thoughts much appreciated - thank you if you're able to reply x
