Do I Have Endo?

Hi All. I’m new here and have not yet been officially diagnosed with endometriosis. I was wondering if from your experience you could tell me if you think I have it. I experience excruciating pain during my period and around the time of ovulation. It is a stabbing, burning pain that is always in the exact same spot. At times it can be a 10/10 where I almost want to call an ambulance. When I was taking birth control pills I never had this pain. It seemed to have started around the time I got a copper IUD. I have had an ultrasound and an MRI which revealed that I have a fibroid and an ovarian cyst, but both on my right side whereas my pain is on the left. The MRI showed some blood products on my left side near my sigmoid colon (which seems to be the exact location of the pain) however, it was decided that there was not enough evidence to suggest endometriosis. I do know that my aunt had endo. I guess my question is if you think I should seek a second opinion, or if I am barking up the wrong tree and my pain is due to something else. Thank you for reading.

Have you considered seeing a GI doctor? GYN pain and GI pain can often be confused...
Your fibroid could be causing pain, your cyst most certainly causes pain as well; the fact that the pain is presenting on the opposite side may not mean anything; it still causes pain. I had my gallbladder out and my pain was no where near where the GB was located. The body does crazy things sometimes.

A GI doctor can do a few tests to rule out anything having to do with your colon or small intestines. I would consult one if the pain continues because it can just rule out (or find) something.

Thank you for your response! I have not seen a GI doctor as the pain is usually during my period and non existent the rest of the time. I still feel it must be related somehow. Do you think that GI pain could manifest solely during ones period? I have serious anxiety when it comes to Doctors and dread going without a solid reason.

Hon I don't go to doctors, either unless I have a good reason. I really dislike going to doctors that make me feel like a fool...there are a lot of those, esp the younger ones that have not yet learned to listen. Though there are older ones that cannot listen, either. If you get one of those walk out the door.

When you are sitting around worrying, that is a good reason to see a doctor. Check doctors out on Yelp to see what others say and look for one that listens. A good doctor puts us at ease because he or she listens.

I can tell you YES, without a doubt, GI pain can manifest solely during a menstrual period.

And both specialists if honest will admit the abdominal and female sex organ diagnosis' process has a lot of overlap, being in the same general area. My sisterinlaw had both types of doctors sending her back and forth between them and they conversed with each other about it, due to a problem neither could diagnose.
