Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy

Hello folks...
I just discovered the type of my epilepsy...its JME(Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy). I read at quite few placesthat it cannot be cured...a lifelong treatment would have to be true is this...Does anyone know of the cure? Or is any research being done to find a cure for JME????

Re: Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy

I think that is right that there is not a cure. JME is one that usually responds fairly well to treatment, however. It often responds well to Depakote. My daughter may have this, is being treated with Zonegran instead. Hers is not clear case for it so we do not have the DX yet. (she has myoclonics with pretty good control, a few atonics, possible absence and a few nocturnals.)

Her myoclonic jerks do not fit the pattern for JME, they are not first thing in the morning usually....
