Not epilepsy..Just seizures?

First timer here folks! I am 42 and have been on Dilantin for about 8 years? I think. Memory is challenging. I take 200 mg in am and 300 mg in pm and I am still having breakthrough incidences. Also taking flexeril for pain (what a joke), and estridol 2 mg per day! ugh! My toes have felt numb/ like full of lint or something creepy for about 3 and a half months. I can't sleep more than 4 hours a stretch. My gums are doing some strange things now and I already have a full denture on top with a partial on bottom. I am afraid to leave my dentures out for ANY length of time other than just brushing for fear of seizing while they are out. I still have six teeth on the bottom front so, It could be like a horror movie if they aren't kept in. I have pain!!!, ALWAYS =( I also have Fibromyalgia and between the two I am generally miserable and have no quality of life. Does anyone know about the toe problem? Does anyone have any ideas for a little better exsistence?

Re: Not epilepsy..Just seizures?

leggy1: What does your doctor say about all of this? Dilantin gave me a rash all over my body. If you're on any AED's you need to be on Vit B6 and be taking vitamin D also or else your bones are going to crumble and you'll end up with osteoporosis next. Doctors won't tell you this, they'll make you figure it out on your own. Have you tried any other meds? Considering your age I'd say that you should have your hormones tested and see if you're estrogen dominant. Look up Catamenial Epilepsy. I've posted many times on these boards about it. It's seizures caused by the estrogen dominance and can start at menopause or puberty. Meds don't always work because it's hormonal based. These symptoms that you're having could be allergic reactions too. Find a new doctor if you have to.

Smile Re: Not epilepsy..Just seizures?

Thank you for the info. All of my seizure activity started pre hysterectomy and before I had to be put on hormones. I have a whole list of not very fun things that I am living with daily. I did however just get a new primary care giver. So far ( only 1 visit and labs ) I really like her approach. We will see just how things go. So far no adjustments to meds. Next appt. on the 30th. Wish me luck
