Valtrez for Epstein Barr?
Hello,
I am new here but not new to Epstein Barr Virus. I am 31 now, and started experiencing EBV symptoms in college around age 21. I was going to school full time, working 2 jobs, and dating a guy whose extracurricular habits could be considered questionable. I have a feeling I contracted Epstein Barr from him, since it's a herpes family virus usually spread through saliva if I am not mistaken. He was 'exposed' to all different walks of life. I started noticing these little pin point red dots on my body in addition to extreme fatigue. Before I could correlate my new health condition with dating him, I am afraid it was too late. I had never had mono before, and was always extremely healthy before my run in with Prince Charming... I don't drink, smoke, do drugs or anything of that nature.
My symptoms of EBV could be considered 'manageable'...if manageable means not working, sleeping 10-12 hours a day and taking vitamins, herbs, juices, and basically having a life revolving around EBV. If I stray from these activities- e.g. working part time, having a drink of alcohol, my symptoms pop right back up. The worst lately is sharp pains in my throat that came on out of nowhere when I feel rundown. Went to Dr. and said it's 'viral related' so I knew then what it was from. The part that bothers me the most is the petechiae- they pop up on my chest area whenever I feel drained, I have about 50 now. Before EBV I never had any.
I visited a homeopath EBV Dr. who's treatment consists of IV UBI (blood irradiation) and this freaks me out beyond belief. I have needle phobia and anything of that sort sends me into a panic attack.
I have read that ppl have had positive results using Valtrex. I would need a non-homeopath for that.
Has anyone tried it?
Thanks
Nicoletta
