I started taking a few dance classes to try to get some more exercise in a fun way. I was just wondering if this is enough exercise a week to lose some weight. (I know diet counts too..... my eating habits are no longer a problem). Monday nights I take a strengh and toning class at the gym. Tuesdays I have a bellydancing class. Wednesdays I have a pilates mat class. Thursdays I have a tap dancing class and Fridays I go to the gym and do some freeweights and treadmill for about an hour and a half. All classes last for an hour. Do you think this is sufficient amount of exercise? I am 5'3 and 155 pounds. I would like to get down to 130. Thank you in advance.

Oh u sound like ur on a role! ur doing something active evryday and i take dancing and TRUST ME! i know its a workout! keep it up!

Anything you can do to make yourself more active is good, but treat these as recreational activities and don't count them as your primary exercise. Some people bike or play tennis or swim for fun, but they still run on the treadmill or lift weights. Dancing is great to burn calories, but try to not to look at it that way because you don't want to fall into the trap of using it as an excuse not to do other exercise. A lot of recreational activities tend to be stop-and-go so they're not as effective at burning calories as something like running would be. But definitely continue dancing if you can find the time. I've heard it will really develop your legs.
