Lose weight lifting weights???

Lose weight lifting weights???

Can you lose weight by lifting weights (machines and free)? I am doing the cardio but am not losing like I want to. How much is good and what is too much? I would really like to drop 20lbs by August 25th. I am 5'4" and 207lbs. so I've got quite a bit to lose. I would appreciate any input on the weights. Thanks!!
Also, I am going to visit a few gyms tomorrow, what is the most important thing to look for as far as weights?

When I lost the weight, not only did I have to do resistance training (weights), cardio, but also watch my diet. I started off counting calories and watching how what I ate effected me. While you are reserching gym memberships, try and find one that offers a couple of "free" training sessions or maybe buy a package that includes at least 5 or 6 sessions with a trainer to get you started.
