Excercising Teen

Hello, im a teen who is still growing. I started doing crunches, pull ups, push ups and other excercises. I do them Every other day, I do 3 series of 15 reps for each. Now, the question is: If I do these types of excercieses, will my body stop growing? will it have any effect on the growth sprout what so ever?

Thanks for looking in,
Holla-dolla

Re: Excercising Teen

Hi Holla-dolla,

you can do these exercises without any worry about your growth. These and any other exercises (running, basketball, weight training, etc.) will help you stay fit and healthy. Just don't forget that your diet is at least as important as the exercises you perform on a regular basis.

Yeah, Diet is very important. What would you consider a healthy diet? For breakfast, lunchand dinner?
Thanks

Re: Excercising Teen

Instead of three bigger meals, try to have 6 smaller meals every day. Each meal will give a boost to your metabolism, and you will less likely feel hungry if you eat more often but smaller portions. Also more frequent eating allows your body better absorb nutrients.

Below is a sample meal plan:

Breakfast: fruits, oatmeal, eggs

Later in the morning: whole grain breads, grilled chicken, vegetables

Lunch: potato/(brown) rice with lean beef, vegetables

In the afternoon: low-fat cottage cheese, vegetables, legumes

After exercising: protein shake, fruits

Dinner: grilled fish, vegetables

Plenty of water, minimal refined sugar-containing foods/beverages.
