Question Constant dull pain in rectus femoris

I originally posted this on the menopause board because I'm at the right age for peri symptoms. I've since learned it's probably not related to that. I have a constant dull ache in my quadricepts specifically the rectus femoris. The aching gets worse at night. This has been going on for about a month. Could this have been brought on from a long bike ride, or maybe not enough stretching? I'm at a loss.
