Cool what is the best ab excercise?

I've heard it from both camps, the sit up and the non sit up people. What't the concensus on this board as far as the best excercise to tighten and tone abdominals? I'd love to know and thanks in advance for the replies.

Sook,
Sit ups and more Sit ups with a lot of running and swimming. Wash board abs will be your reward.

Cool

I bought one of those ab roller things about three weeks ago at "BIG 5" for about 12 dollars. This consists of only a big wheel and a foamy gripping bar. With ONE WEEK of doing two sets of ten a day, people had begun to comment, esspecially my girlfriend. It works damb gooood! GO GET ONE!!! You'll see.

Thumbs up

I second the post about the ab roller. We got one a few weeks ago and I see a big improvement on my husband. Also, you can really feel it working those muscles.

I bought an ab wheel for about 7 dollars and I think it's better than all the sit-ups and crunches I've ever did. It's easier and it doesn't hurt my neck .. I also feel it working. I haven't seen an improvment but I do feel a difference (I've only started doing it for a few days ). I just have to do more cardio to get rid of the pouch then I'll probably see the muscle definition. I have a question.. I've been doing 3 sets of 15 at night and in the morning, do I have to skip a day or can I do this every single day? hehe I want fast results as you can tell .

How do I determine which size exercise ball I need?

I have seen them in 55cm and 63cm. I'm 5'5", but I have really long legs and arms and pretty much no torso (or so it seems).

Ok, this is directed towards people who workout at a gym.. There are a variety of exercises you can do. Don't bother with full situps.. Do crunches.. Hanging knee/leg raises is another exercise for the lower abdominals.. There are other ones which would be too complicated to mention. About those ab machines they do some work. But I stick to the traditional ones. Also you can add bulk to your abs or keep them toned as it is.. If you want the bulky ab look keep your rep range from 8-15 (with weight added)... If you want the toned look stick with higher rep range

MINIMOUSE.
try not to work out a muscle every day. you need to give it a break a few times a week so it can regenerate and build new stronge muscle tissue.

I use a swiss ball myself. Easy on the back and also a great way to stretch.

Question

Hi~! Does the ab slider improve any other parts of your body besides just the abs? Do they help anywhere else at all? If so, pls tell me what parts were showing results.

Thanx~!

um...ok
with the abs, they are like every other muscle group, u need to hit them hard, and from multiple excersices. All u mention is good and all but one ab excercise wont give u rock hard steel abs (like myself ) 3 sets of 12 of the excersice of your choice (at least 3) will do, combined with cardio 2-3 times a week. A combo of weights does wonders, try that too!
