    Wine splashed in eye

    Morning,

I was out last night and my friend knocked over her glass of red wine. A few drops must have splashed up in my eye as it felt uncomfortable and I had to go and rinse them with some cold water.

It felt a bit stingy afterwards like when shampoo gets in your eye. When I got home I used a Boots eye wash and eye bath that I bought recently (as been doing sanding at home). This morning I used it again. Still a bit uncomfortable but vision ok and they look ok in the mirror.

Is there anything to worry about or should I just continue to rinse them?

    Thanks

No worries about wine. Use saline type drops a few times a day for a bit.

    Dear alex,

Now that you did the rinse and some time has passed, I would not continue the rinse.
The eyes have their own moisture and are self-cleansing. I think it is safe to let the eye relax and recover.

Wine is not going to hurt your eyes...it may sting or even burn for a few hours, but the eyes are really self cleansing and if you leave them alone for 48 hours- stop rinsing them now that you have already done a good rinse- they should be fine.

Just like anything, they are bound to be irritated from all the rinsing and from being splashed with the wine, but there is nothing in wine that can do any damage to the eye.

I would recommend practicing more with the red wine, but aim for the mouth? Hope your eye is feeling better .
