Small opaque flashing ring when move eye

When I move my left eye, there is a small ring that flashes momentarily in my central field of vision against a neutral background. It does not cause me much visual distress but I think it may be something new. I do have a history of many floaters but haven't noticed an increase lately. i am treated for ocular hypertension but my last exam revealed healthy macula and optic nerve. Any clues?

Im going to relate my experience, and maybe this might be part of the reason for your symptoms?

In December 2017, I had a vitreous detachment in my right eye, and in February 2018 a vitreous detachment in my left eye.

Afterward, aside from the the remaining black and clear fuzzy floaters, each time I moved my eyes side to side quickly, I had like a crescent shape (on the outside) field of vision.

I was told that it was the fibrous connections to the retina are being pulled down as the vitreous gel in the eye becomes liquid. As they're pulling on the retina, they cause mild shaped flashes. The flashes have stopped in both eyes.

Many of the central vision floaters are still there, and once in a while I get a very dark black spot with a bright circle in the centre of my left eye. I'm wondering if that would be like the ring you mean? That kind do tend to disappear shortly after appearing.
As well....some of my floaters are softer and not complete and can look ike a ring or parf of a ring. Actually both eyes had a clump of 3 like two eyes and an open mouth.

This could very well be a detached retina... please see a good eye doctor and have this checked out as it can suddenly cause severe problems including vision loss.

It makes sense that the movement of the eye would cause traction that might be momentarily tugging on something. I have read of something called a Weiss ring which is the part of the vitreous sheet around the optic head. So Perhaps it is a part of vitreous coming loose but not movable yet? I don't see it in dark. Wouldn't a tug on part of the retina also cause a flash in the dark?

The ring flash is faint, circular, and concentric. No shading or darkness in the center and appears to be 1/2" approx in diameter. I am in a new state so taking awhile to see a doctor with my insurance, but i do have an appt. -thanks!

Yes...I will add that the filaments pulling on the retina could cause retinal tear.

    Please get checked asap.

When I had mine, I went to the eye care centre emergency and then follow-up with my Optomitrist that does scans and thorough testing.

This sounds very similar to what I had with a partial PVD. Mine resulted in a retina detachment. I did go in and have it checked right when I noticed it. Dr. said to come back when/if symptoms change. I ended up with an emergency vitrectomy 6 months later after getting the signs of an RD. You may want to go in and get a baseline with a retina dr. This way you would have an established relationship built with them should things go bad - and can call and get in right away. Live life like you always have, but have a plan in case something happens with this. Know the signs of a RD and get in ASAP should you develop symptoms.

Thanks everyone. I am starting with my new glaucoma specialist on Wed since I am overdue for that exam and I will have him check that out and refer me to a retinal specialist if needed. Yeah, what is weird is that no articles that I have read on this indicates a perfect circle in the center of the vision. So perhaps the tissue is adhering right around the optic head. I guess there is always a first for everything.

Eyeswise - Just to elaborate a little more. Mine was a half circle line white in color that I saw in the center of vision. I saw this only with eye movement and when looking at a lighter colored wall. I was obsessed with looking at it for 6 months. Never had any flashes or anything until the partial PVD turned into a full one. Then I had lots of floaters. Saw Dr again at that point. Said it appeared I got lucky and the retina didn't tear. Well three days after being cleared, i saw millions of black dot floaters, flashes. I literally could not mistake that something was seriously wrong. Immediately was seen by the retina doctor and had me in surgery for vitrectomy the same day. Evidently my vitreous was very sticky and caused 5 retinal tears. Long story short - just be vigilant my friend.

Wow, so sorry you needed such an invasive procedure. What I have been reading is that laser or cryo is used for minor tears and seperations. Thanks again.

So I went to my GS and he did an OCT and visual and saw nothing but lens opacification. He sent me to a retinal specialist who found no PVD or retinal issue and everything looked normal. He mentioned possible optic ischemia neuropathy but suggested a laser to clear opacification. I contacted GS who did IOL surgery and they said symptom was highly unusual and suggested an neurology ophthalmologist. The retina doctor thinks it is nothing to worry about. However, i am now spooked and my anxiety is high, but I don't want to get in this doctor to doctor hunt and find nothing aggravation.
