Question New to Glaucoma, not sure what to do

Hi. I was diagnosed with Glaucoma back in March when my eye pressure was 39 and 36. I already have Retinopathy of Prematurity, but my eyes have gotten way more light sensitive. I can't be inside under fluorescent lighting without wearing glasses, and my vision has definitely changed. I don't have peripheral vision, and my acuity went from 20/60 to 20/1200 pretty quickly. I've been doing my drops, which is good, but I've still had eye pain. I also have headaches, which I know are a result of the pressure, but they are to the point that they are physically making me sick. And sometimes, I feel like when I look at things, I'm in a dream. Like when you wake up, and you don't always realize you are awake? That's sometimes what seeing things feels like, it's like my brain can't comprehend what is going on. It's not just first thing in the morning either, it's all the time. Whenever I have trouble seeing something, it's almost like my brain doesn't recognize what it's looking at, even if it's like my hand. The other night I was typing on my computer, and I looked down at my hand, and it was almost like I didn't recognize it, like it wasn't mine? I don't know if that makes sense... I'm just confused, and kind of scared. I know there is a possibility of me losing more vision, and I don't know how to stop that, especially since it took so long for a doctor to diagnose the Glaucoma. You would think with going to go see a specialist every six months that they would have caught it early.

I guess has anyone experienced anything similar? At least with the light sensitivity and not recognizing things? Or are there any tips on how to help my eyes stop hurting or get used to the vision changes? It's still weird to me that I can't see a lot of the things I used to. I know it takes getting used to, but I'm kind of getting tired of it...
thanks. And thanks for letting me rant too lol.

    Hi,
what kind of doctor is treating you? If it's not a Glaucoma Specialist, that's who you need to see, and very soon.

I don't know anything about the symptoms of retinopathy, but some of your complaint are typical of closed angle glaucoma. If that's what you have treatment would be a laser procedure to open the angle to relieve the pressure build up. Yes, you can go blind with that kind of glaucoma, and quickly.

My recommendation is to make an appointment with a glaucoma specialist or go to an eye hospital for evaluation.

Good luck and please post to say how you're doing.

    hi,
Thanks for replying. I am a seeing two glaucoma specialists. They havenít been able to determine the type of glaucoma or how bad it is because they donít know how much damage was done from the retinopathy or the glaucoma. I did call my doctor to see what they want me to do, so hopefully he can help.
