Paying attention to the blur in myopia

Attention people with myopia! When you remove your glasses at night, and look at the bright full moon, what do you see? I see a circular arrangement of several moons. Similarly, if I look at the little LED light on my TV I see many little lights arranged like a chandelier. Same goes for car headlamps and traffic lights. These are very pretty to look at. Now, when I mentioned this to my optometrist he was amazed. He thought I should see a 'blur'. Of course, he doesn't have myopia.

Can anyone with myopia confirm that what I see is not unusual? Presumably, retinal cells all respond to a so called 'blurred image' by registering multiple sharp images. At least that's my experience. It is totally different to the optics of a camera lens that simply expands the boundary of a single point. So do all people with myopia have a kind of polyopia then?

Tall individuals with myopia are at risk of a type of macular degeneration with bleeding in back of retina.

    Check with an ophthalmologist ASAP.
