    Post Red Eyes

My eyes have been red for about 6 years. I used to wear contact lenses for many years. I started wearing semi-hard contacts then I switched to soft extended wear. I never had a problem wearing contacts until I started wearing toric lenses because of my astigmatism. I have always had an astigmatism in conjunction with my near-sightedness in both eyes but only wore contact lenses for my near-sightedness only. The toric lenses I use to wear were soft lenses. I noticed my eyes would get red easier with the toric lenses because they were a bit thicker than regular lenses. I use to use visine to get the red out of my eyes once in a while prior to wearing my toric lenses. I finally stopped using visine after I found out it could make your redness worse. I would tell my eye doctor about my eyes getting red/staying red but he said that was natural because I was wearing contact lenses and lived in a dry climate. Eventually, my eyes would not clear up. I have had the redness on the 3 and 9 o'clock positions on both my eyes for a long time and have been trying to get different doctors' point of view. I have been diagnosed with conjunctivitis, GPC, pingueculae, episcleritis and have not been able to clear up the redness in my eyes. I believe I have issues with dry eyes too. I guess I am just upset that one of my earlier opthamologists, optometrists, etc. didn't help me eliminate this problem in the beginning. I thought my eyes would clear up eventually on their own and they haven't. I don't wear contact lenses anymore as I have had LASIK on my eyes to correct my vision and astigmatism. My surgery was about 3 1/2 years ago and my eyes still have the redness. My eyes have a constant redness. What I mean by this constant redness is that I have certain dilated blood vessels in my eyes that remain and don't clear up or constrict. My eyes don't hurt other than an occasional dryness. I have used the moisture, lubricant, re-wetting eye drops and my eyes remain the same sometimes they get redder. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar problem and had any solutions or ideas? I guess my biggest problem is the cosmetic issue. Are there any means to remove those blood vessels? Thanks in advance for any information.

Have you been examined thoroughly by a specialist like a retina specialist for instance? The examination should include slit lamp and dialation as well. There are quite a few things that can cuase the redness that you describe. Hopefully you'll be able to find a way to rid yourself of it. Good luck
