Post Muscle twitch under the eye

    Hello ,
I have the following concern ,two days before there was a interse muscle twitch in the area(bag)just below my right eye .This lasted a few minutes .Strange and a bit frightening thing .
Today morning appeared again , this time more calmly .
Has anyone any idea whether I should worry about it?
    Thanks

99.99% of the time this is a benign condition (nothing to woryy about). I know that it can be worrying since it has happened to me and I got a little freaked out by it. In my case, it was caused by stress, which happens to be a common cause. Other causes that I have heard about are - long periods of reading/computer use with no break, caffiene intake, soda intake, lack of sleep, and non-dairy creamer such as cremora. If you have recently started drinking more soda than normal or more coffee or started adding creamer, if you cut back or stop it may go away.

Cut back on stress and get plemty of rest. If it continues you can contact your eye Dr for further advice.

    Hope this helps.

I had the smae problem that lasted over 6 months. It eventually stopped, but I was told it could be caused by a magnesium deficiency. I tried daily vitamins and it seemed to help.

I've had this twitching from time to time for over 20 years - it always seems to have cropped up when I've been overtired, stressed, using my eyes a lot - but it's never developed into anything sinister, so I'm sure there's no need for you to worry. hope this helps

I couple of years ago my left eye twitched on and off quite frequently for about six months. Finally mostly out of curiousity I went to the eye doctor. After the exam she asked if my left eye had been twitching at all, I just laughed and said that was why I had gotten the exam. It turned out that even though I thought my vision was fine, my left eye was slightly weaker than the right, so it was constantly struggling to keep up, which is why I didn't notice a change in my vision. So I got a pair off glasses that I wear when I sit in front of a computer at work all day, and it hasen't twitched since

    hey there
I was wondering if someone can help me out here. In March of this yr I got Bell's Palsy and it lasted like a month or so. Then like about a week ago I started noticing that my left eye is twitching more than usual. I mean it twitches...but not it does it a lot more now!! I hate it. Now it feels like whenever I close my eyes it does it right when I open them! I don't know what the heck is wrong with me! Should I be worried about it? Is it Bell's Palsy again? I've been noticing my face now all the time I carry a mirror with me and its okay. It's just my left eye that problem. Please I hope someone can email me back what the heck is wrong with me. Thanks so much

    Wink

I have been experiencing something similar, but I think a bit more sinister. First in August, my Left eye was twitching a lot. Mostly when I flinched, yawned or went under the shower. It lasted for about 3 1/2 months, then went away. Last week my right eye started doing the same thing. I don't drink much coffee (maybe 1 small cup a day max.) I sleep great, don't use computer much, and am pretty stress free these days, as I have been on meds for that! Once I was told it was anxiety, I believed them, and started on Zoloft and Xanax. Cut back on my work, and life is pretty good!

The difference is, I also get random twitches in the muscles in my body as well. They started about a month after the left eye, and have diminished some, but not gone completely. They come and go. I have seen a neurologist, had an EMG and they found nothing. They attribute it to anxiety. I am not convinced.

Any thoughts are appreciated. I agreed with them at first about the stress thing, but it's been 4 months, and I have taken serious measures to become anxiety free. ( I have tried Magnesium, I'll now give up coffee and creamer)

    Thanks!

    Kim

    Question

Is there any evidance that ties non-dairy creamers to eyelid twitching?
I've come across these theories on various message boards but have yet to find any articles or other evidance on it.

It's termed: Facial Myokymia, and it is a form of involuntary muscular movement.

Usually nothing serious and may be related to stress, fatique, too much exercise, caffeine, smoking, alcohol, medications,...etc

If it persists for more than 3 months or occurs frequently in other muscle groups of the body, see your doctor.
