Visual disturbances

Hello...
I need some support/advice. I have been dealing with these horrible vision problems since last january and i am going crazy. It started with floaters, then i started getting bright white sparks, then tiny black dots everywhere and now my whole world is moving. When i look at the sky or any bright surface it looks like i am "seeing heat" like off a fire or barbeque, or another way to think of it is ripples on water. only its on the wall/sky/wherever. Ive seen a few MDs and a retina specialist. I was told i have some mild lattice degneration but otherwise everything is fine. I guess its considered "visual snow" or persistant migraine aura but i feel like there is more to it. I just cant handle it anymore. Today i tried to take my daughter out to play in the snow and i forgot my sunglasses. i could barely look at her everything was making me so dizzy. ugh. im so depressed.

Re: Visual disturbances

How very frustrating, particularly when the doctors don't seem take you seriously. Is this due to a lack of assertiveness on your part? You really need to see a neuro-ophthalmologist and insist that this problem is causing you distress. They should carry out tests to endeavour to find the reason for this phenomenon.

Re: Visual disturbances

I would ask what happened last January? Were you taking any medications? Were you ill? I think the clue might lie there.

Re: Visual disturbances

Ive thought through every possible cause and there are too many. I gave birth the oct prior...i was really sick in december with some horrible virus and i was put on some antibiotics...that obviously didnt help because it was a virus. i started nursing school which seriously stressed me out along with having an infant with colic. I dont think stress is the cause though i really dont. i deal with things pretty well. I'm thinking it had to be that virus or something that happened from birthing my daughter.

Re: Visual disturbances

I think it was the virus too.
As to what you can do about it, I'm of no use. You're already familiar with the term "visual snow", so I'd suggest pursuing that. You could try a search using that term and farmer.

Re: Visual disturbances

Hi McNervous, Just wanted to add my personal info, I have aura without headaches and have experienced some odd stuff myself. Went without my sunglasses and saw pink fluufy stuff, anyways it always seemed to be when I was under stress. You may not feel stressed but maybe your body is getting a different message. You probably already know the role stress plays in all of our body parts, why not eyes? Think about it anyways, maybe some more time for yourself, listening to music, etc. You have alot on your plate, give yourself permission to take time outs for yourself. I have done it and my aura without headaches diminished alot. The other advice you received was also very good. Blessings

omgoodness, what can i say, i finally meet someone who has something similar to what i am seeing. It looks like smoke rising sometimes< or energy moving?? Sometimes, to me its like im seeing an outline of head and shoulders. is that similar to what you are seeing?

Re: Visual disturbances

Hi, I too have very similar visual disturbances as you. It started about two months ago, and just last week I started to develop the sudden pin-dot flashes, and dark spots that last about a second and happen randomly throughout the day. I noticed that you posted this a few years ago, and was wondering if in case you still check this, you could tell me if things have gotten better for you, which I hope they have.

Thanks.
