Left Upper Eyelid Swelling - Noticable for 5 years +

Just after a bit of advice really as to whether there is anything that can be done for my left eyelid??

I have noticed that over the last few years my left eye doesnt appear to be symmetrical with my other eye, i have noticed that the eyelid appears to be drooping slightly, there is also what can best be described swelling in the area aswell.. it stays pretty much as shown the in picture all day long and hasnt gone away for years and years?? some days the swelling is slightly less and some days slightly more.. the swelling does not hurt at all but sometimes i do feel a slight twitch in the eye almost as if pressure build disturbing nerves etc.

I visited my local GP and he said its probably fat build up behind eyelid and there was nothing that could be done???

Please See attached picture :

Tried doing a few searhces but havent really come up with much to be honest.

If anyone has any suggestions i would be very interested to find out a bit more information

Many thanks in advance

My left upper eyelid has been swollen since December. My family doctor said it was allergies and that was that, he didn't send me for allergy tests so I went to the pharmacy and got myself some claritin and some eyedrops. Well guess what? nothing happened, besides it being swollen, my vision out of that eye is really blurry, I went and saw an opthamoligist and I do need to wear glasses full time. I asked him about the swelling and he said it was allergies and that was that. I love wearing makeup and sometimes my eye is so swollen I have to put an icepack on it but it does not help any.
Now my right eye swells sometimes. When I do book for allergy tests and I'm not allergic to anything what the heck is it.
It also feels like there is something under my lid all the time. The eye doctor flipped my eyelid inside out and there was nothing there.

I hope someone out there has a remedy or answer for this.

Re: Left Upper Eyelid Swelling - Noticable for 5 years +

the swelling feels like its behind the eyelid tho, not in the eyelid?? almost as tho there is tissue in or behind the eye socket thats swelling??

it is definately worse during hotter weather, i havent tried the ice pack yet tho... may give it a go and see if there is any slight improvement.

not sure about the allergies either... but i suppose it could be an idea worth looking into more

think i am gonna ask my gp to refer me to a specialist for a second opinion as i am fed up of it now..... i am getting married next year and i dont want to be self conscious during photos.... kinda sad really, but it bothers me that much now

Unhappy Left Upper Eyelid Swelling - Noticable for 5 years +

Your picture looks like the way my left eye gets started, it slants in the corner, i dont feel anything right away but my kids and/co-workers seem to notice it right away, then i start to feel like my eye lid if falling over my eye. it begins to swell and looks HORRIBLE, i feel like a monster. It doesnt happen all the time, and sneaks up on me all of the sudden. When i talked to my doctor about it and showed him a picture of how bad it looked, he said it was probably allergies, his reccomendation; take allergy pills and nasal spray every day to prevent it from happening, but it still happens. in fact right now it is happening, it can distort my eyesight when the swelling gets full blown. I want to know what is going on.
