Medicare allowance for glasses

I just had Cataract surgery in both eyes ( 3 weeks apart). I have been pricing glasses at different places as Eye Land etc, they all say medicare pays a flat rate of $80 toward glasses.

i asked the tech at my Eye surgery center for a price on tansitional lens, plastic lens, lined biofcals and a frame for $140. She gave me a total price of $330 but after medicare allowance I would be paying out about $140, plus $35 for the refractatory test.

Anyone have any info on medicare allowance, seems to be a big difference between the Drs. office and these eye glass as i will call them stores.

Thanks, Linda

Re: Medicare allowance for glasses

I guess Medicare pays $80.00 because you had cataract surgery. I'm also on Medicare and know that Medicare does not pay for eye glasses. I always have to pay for my reading glasses.
