Watery eye and pain after cold

After my cold, my eye has been sore and watering for the last few weeks. My mother said it was conjunctivitus, but that's supposed to clear up within a few days.
The doctor gave me medication for it 3 days ago, but I haven't felt much improvement. When I was there, he said that it was the beginning of an infection. I also told him about the small stye that's been in my eye for several months, but he wasn't very helpful on the subject. He's foreign, so it was kind of hard to tell what he was trying to say. xD

Is it because of the stye that the "infection" is taking so long to heal? The pain, headaches and tearing is still there.
I need help. Any suggestions as to what's going on? ;__;
