advice please of pressures going into cataract surgery

I am posting for my husband who was diagnosed a few years ago with glaucoma. His field of vision tests show some peripheral visual damage. His pressure last week was 20 in rt. eye and 25 in left eye. His left is the one scheduled for surgery in 3 days. My question is this: Since cataract surgery usually causes some increase in pressure, shouldn't he have a lower pressure to start out with?
I really appreciate any advice here. He has just recently changed meds to Azopt and our surgeon was not even going to check his pressure preop until I sort of insisted on it.
What do you think, folks? Thanks ahead for any advice!

Re: advice please of pressures going into cataract surgery

His pressures are at the high end of normal and after the diagnosis should be kept low. But this is a longer term thing and what happens in the few days around the surgery date is perhaps secondary with respect to the glauc/IOP.
I think its important to resume eye pressure meds as soon as possible after the eye settles and perhaps to remind your specialist of this.
The other thing is some antibiotics like Prednefrin can have the side effect of raising eye pressures - so that might deserve consideration too.
Good luck with it.
