Diplopia and Red/Green Edges

I have had diplopia (double vision) since I was in my teens (I am now 37) and for years I was able to cope without needing Glasses (with Prisms) for everyday use. However, a year or so ago I noticed that I was having to close one eye more and more, and thus I started to wear glasses all the time.

This weekend I collected some new glasses with different lenses, and I noticed that some things were showing a red and green vertical shadow. I put this down to the glasses being thinner etc, however I have just taken them off and I am now seeing this effect even without them on.

I wondered if there is anybody else here with Diplopia who also has this effect? Its slightly worrying because a Google search of "diplopia green and red distortion" brings mainly results related to MS. As I have had this for 20 years I am really hoping that this new issue is just related to my lazy muscle!
