    Scillinting scotoma after laser misuse

Hello. So a little over one year ago, I was being an idiot and decided to shine a laser pointer into my eye. Even sence I did that, there has been a scillinting scotoma in the center of my vision. At first I though it would go away, but as weeks turned into months I realized this wasnt going to heal on its own. Ive been to two eye doctors who said there is no nerve damage, but that doesnt help the fact that it is still there. Is there anything I can do about this? Its very frusterating and makes it hard to read in my right eye.

Sorry to hear of your problem.

Have you seen a retina specialist? You may have damaged some retinal or macula cells, which connect to the optic nerve. A general ophthalmologist or optometrist are not as skilled at examining the retina.

I believe that I did, but im not sure if it was a retinal specialist. After reading this, ill propably lobby my dad to make another appointment. It really is amazing to think that in so little time I could cause damage that lasts for so long :/ Do you know if its possible for that nerve to ever heal itself? After such a long time, I have my doubts

Hmm....I'm not sure if retinal cells are considered nerve cells. I think they're very specialized kinds of cells that transfer images to the optic nerve. That said, Your question is better asked of the doctor; I really don't know the answer. Some things can take a long time to heal whereas others never do.
