Breaking ribs during radiation treatment for mets to bones

Backround---My husband is stage 4 with bone mets, also he is a diabetic and has a mechanical heart valve (11yrs.) and major cardio-vascular problems. He was dianoged in Nov.2009, this Wed. they will decide whether or not he will have chemo, yestersay (Mon.) he had blood work.

My Question-----He completed radiation, although during treatment he broke some ribs they are not that concerned. They gave him a one dose "super shot" and just let it go at that, he finished that day Is this normal? They don't bind or repair ribs or other bones when you have cancer?

I am so lost.
