    Re: Fibromyalgia

    hello and welcome,
I have neuropathy in both feet. not related to fibro. I did go thru a phase about 18 years ago when my feet hurt all the time. never did find out why. then one day it just went away. suggest you speak to your doctor about this.
when faced with something you cannot control peace lies in self education and adaptation to the situation.

Hi Danielle, Without going into too much about fibro, I found out that I first had small fiber neuropathy (SFN). My feet literally hurt me for years which is where SFN begins, then the neuropathy appeared. I was diagnosed with a skin punch test which is considered the only reliable test for SFN. Then I had other symptoms that did not coincide with those of SFN and my specialist told me, as I had suspected, that I probably had fibro and that fibro and SFN go hand in hand. Wish I had known that beforehand. I am not saying that you could have SFN. I think that fibro is just a nasty thing that can hit you hard anywhere so it could be just a part of it.

I read that some people use a magnesium cream to rub on their feet and I have found that to be helpful to me, also. I don't have the exact name but I think it's Morton's Epsom Lotion and I found it at Walmart in the same section where you buy Epsom Salt. Apply liberally. I tried taking magnesium pills and wouldn't recommend it. I had almost instant diarheea (Never could spell that word). Dr. recommended vitamin D-6 and D-3.

The pain in my feet has subsided considerably but I do take Lyrica. Gabapentin didn't seem to work as well. Neither of them help completely, but everyone is different so try them all. It may take time to find the right fit.

Also, please consider wearing shoes that have a lot of support. No flip-flops!! I can only wear shoes that have a good sole, preferably thick but not clunky. A rubber sole absorbs shock the best. Tough to find some that are stylish but keep looking Easy Spirit work for me. If you are not wearing good supportive shoes/sandals/sneakers, that could be making your feet hurt more. (I don't know why, but sneakers make my feet hurt terribly. Wish i could wear them) Just a thought.

I don't know if my suggestions are helpful but do get back to your doctor about your feet. He may have other suggestions.
