Red face How many of us are in a wheelchair?

I'm not, but I was wondering if there are any of you that are in a wheelchair? It has been a scarry thought that I have been pondering. How about you?

My rheumatologist told me Fibromyalgia would never cripple a person, only make you think it will!

The only reason any of us with Fibro would end up in a wheelchair would be due to other medical problems or that we just sat down and did not bother to move our muscles because it hurt. "We" can cripple ourselves.

Best for us to keep on moving even if it does hurt. We will hurt whether we sit, stand, walk, bend over or whatever, soooooo....we might as well keep on moving and enjoy life, misery and all!!

    Hi Marie,
Nice outlook on things. I feel the same way as you. I asked the question because sitting next to me right now is a co-worker that has MS and is in a wheelchair. Just something that popped in my mind is all.

HI. I am 20 & in a wheelchair due to Fibro. It is b/c of patient neglect. I went to Georgetown & they missed and ignored a lot of the symptoms. I had constricted breathing due to Myofascial knots. They swelled into my neck & pushed into the back of my lungs & under my ribs. When the pain got really bad I started blacking out. That was when levels got to 10.

During that time I couldn't do anything w/out throwing up b/c of pain. I tried beyond everything. I wrecked the car 3 times.

Now I see a CFS/FM specialist who has saved my health. He knows the works in pain mgmt. After everything is completely stabilized, he's sending me to physical rehab. During that time my muscles went into complete atrophy.

WOW, sorry to hear about all that. Sounds like you also have Maries tooth syndrom. It sometimes goes hand in hand with FM. It runs in my family too. We found out it started with a uncle from the 1700's. I went several years before I was diagnosed with FM. But I never went through what you did. I am glad to hear that you have a good doctor and are on the right track. I hope you get to a point that you can get out of that wheelchair. Thanks for the reply to the post.

It falls into the same catagorie as myofacial pain (syndrom). It is hereditary. If you have it, then someone in your lineage has had it also.
