Please help!

I am hoping that you guys may be able to make some good recommendations for me.

I am 35 year old male that has always been blessed with great health. In March, I started having GI isssues. It began with abdominal pain and dry heaving. I was referred to a specialist and had many tests. I had an endoscopy colonoscopy Ct scan blood work hida scan and ultrsound. The only things uncovered were gastritis and diverticulosis. The Gi issues are much better most of the time, but I do have diarrhea about once a week. The specialist nurse practicioner suggested it may be ibs.

Back in June, I began having random aches. It started with my neck and back. Then, it moved to my legs. The pain is dull and bothers me more when standing still and walking. It isn't as bad when sitting or laying down. My neck and shoulders also ache. I also get pain in my forearm biceps and triceps. I also get pins and needles feelings in my arms. I have also been having problems with dry eyes. I get muscles in my hand twitching as well.

I look up health info constantly since this started, and will admit I am very concerned. I have had my thyroid checked and it was okay. My electrolytes were also fine. These symptoms have caused a lot of anxiety and stress. My Gp presciped celexa, but I had some issues with side effects.

All my searches have pointed to fibromyalgia, but I am not convinced.

I don't feel all that tired. I am a male. I haven't experienced any confusion. I am not any more stiff in the mornings.

Could all of this be a result of anxiety and/or depression?

Thanks for reading!

Re: Please help!

I can't say whether it is Fibro or not but it sounds alot like my story. Mine started in March and not all at once. It started as headaches, then neck and shoulders and back. Then the headaches went away mostly but then it moved into my arms, then my legs, the fatigue hit me last and still not all at once. It was a progression. Now the pain is all over but not all at moves around depending on the day. My fatigue has gotten so bad now though that I drop the kids off at school, come back and lay down, pick them up, come back and lay down. It's ridiculous. My doctor keeps telling me that exercise will help and I try to but it's hard...especially when I feel so weak that I have to rest in between doing the dishes and starting a load of laundry.
By the way, mine started after I was having GI troubles. I had what felt like a bad stomach virus for 2 weeks, then I just caught every illness going around the next 4 weeks....the pain started right after all that.
I hope you find the answers....and I hope your answers aren't worse than the questions. Good Luck to you.

Re: Please help!

It could be fibro. I often have symptoms like that, and I do not have any cognitive symptoms of fibro.

However, do make sure that you have bloodwork to rule out autoimmune conditions, since that's the other major possibility. A rheumatologist would probably be the best doctor to see for diagnosis.
