Question PTTD causing hip pain ... i hate the limp

63 yd old male with a right hip replacement done 4 years ago.Foolish me, but I got on a ladder two years in and fell and didnt think anything about the swollen ankle on the same side (RT) but then the hip started hurting and I've tried everything and was finally diagnosed as having to have PTTD surgery. Seems the fallen arch is causing my gait totend outward and unless I have the arch repaired, I might be looking at knee and further hip problems due to the misalignment. AND I HATE THIS LIMP. So I think the time is near for the surgery I need. I have been to my podiatrist and orthopedist in Atlanta and both confirmed the condition and the need for surgery. Not tomorrow but sooner then later.

Anyone out there who lives alone and may have 12 steps to climb to get home...whats the best way to navigate up those steps.I know Non Weight Bearing is the word following surgery and I'll probably go to a Rehab facility after the hospital and then home. But those stairs are concerning...any ideas

Have you thought about installing a ramp? Using a ramp would be easier for you to navigate than climbing those 12 steps.
    I wish you well.

when you are in rehab, you will be shown how to go up and down steps. It really is no problem. I had no trouble with it after hip replacement and was able to use the steps after about one week.

thanks for the info...my major concern is navigating the steps after the PTTD surgery. After my hip replacement in 2012, climbing the steps was pretty easy, but this will be a new venture

The easiest and least scariest way is up and down on your bottom.
