Should I be worried? (Broken Ankle Recovery)

Today makes 10 weeks since surgery. Had a Trimalleolar Fracture and have 2 screws in the talus, 2 long screws in the end of the tibia and a plate and 6 screws in my fibula. I'm in a boot with crutches. Doctor cleared me for partial weight bearing last week. I have not put much weight on it yet. I started back to work this week, and last night I hit a patch of ice in the lot, and the crutches just went. I automatically reacted and just stomped the injured foot down to brace myself. There are no visible ill effects but a good amount of pain close to the plate at the end of the Fibula, and inside the ankle joint. Lots of swelling, which is not too far from the norm. I'm just worried that I hurt something. I dont go back to the doctor for another 4 weeks. Should I be worried and head to the doctor? How do you know when you have over done it? Thanks in advance.

Call your doctor. This is not overuse and only your doctor can answer this

I would agree with the person who responded before me. Call your doc's office ASAP! Tell the on call if it's after hours. Something like that may constitute an emergency. Don't wait for advice, this is clearly something that could be potentially dangerous to the entire healing process.

Thanks for the replies. I got into the doctor. Thank goodness no real damage done. Bones are all in good shape. He said it was just pain from the ankle joint/soft tissue not being used to supporting weight. Did advise me to take it easy for a few days.
