    Help interpreting my MRI results

I am not able to get in to see an orthopedist any time soon, and I would really appreciate some feedback on my MRI report. It is for my right ankle.

Here is the salient part of the report:
"small focal area of splenic tearing in the peroneous brevis approx 2cm distal to the lateral malleolus. There is tendonisis with split tearing of the peroneus longus just above the level of the malleolus extending all the way distally as it crosses underneath the cuboid."

Is this serious? Is there any any chance it could heal on its own, or does it sound like something that needs surgery? With this type of injury, am I making it worse walking on it in everyday activities, or is the damage already done? I've stopped working out or anything like that, but I wonder if I'm doing damage by running errands and cleaning and stuff like that. I don't know if I should try to stay completely off it.

Full disclosure: I have permanent numbness in that leg, calf and toes following a back surgery, and so I don't have a good sense of when something hurts. I have no memory of injuring my ankle -- I just noticed one day that it had swollen up hugely and my limp seemed worse than before.
