I'm wanting to know if others have had this experience... I'm just 3weeks past ankle surgery and the nerve pain is insane. I feel like fireworks are going off both inside and outside my foot. Is this normal??
I broke my ankle in 2 places and tore a ligament. I'm having a horrible time trying to get any info out of my surgeon about what to expect. I feel like I'm just waking up out of a norco haze to discover it might be a year before I walk normally again- how did this happen?!!? (Last thing I remember was holding up my binoculars to get a good spot on a bird and wham... into an unseen hole.)
Help! And thank you!

Re: ankle fracture & nerve pain
Hello Yuba,
Sorry to hear about your pain. I think I know what you are going through. My medial malleolus broke during total ankle replacement surgery.. As a result a nerve was damaged and the shooting and burning pain drove me mad.
It will get better in time, but nerves take a long long long time to heal. Right now you need special pain meds for nerve pain because others won’t help. Make sure your dokter prescribes those for you soon.
Hope you feel better soon

Re: ankle fracture & nerve pain
not the same injury as you, I shattered my heel, talus, and subtalar joint. There were shooting sensations as the foot started to wake up. For me, they were once I was allowed to start putting weight on it.
